Juice Box Hero....stars in his eyes

ETA- Adding the video clip from youtube for my obviously young readership. ;) Keep forgetting how old I am. lol

Standing in the rain, with his head hung low
Couldn't get a ticket, it was a sold out show
Heard the roar of the crowd, he could picture the scene
Put his ear to the wall, then like a distant scream

He heard one guitar, just blew him away
He saw stars in his eyes, and the very next day
Bought a beat up six string in a secondhand store
Didn't know how to play it, but he knew for sure

That one guitar, felt good in his hands
Didn't take long, to understand
Just one guitar, slung way down low
Was one way ticket, only one way to go

So he started rockin
Ain't never gonna stop
Gotta keep on rockin
Someday hes gonna make it to the top

And be a juice box hero, got stars in his eyes
Hes a juice box hero
He took one guitar, juice box hero, stars in his eyes
Juice box hero, hell come alive tonight

In a town without a name, in a heavy downpour
Thought he passed his own shadow, by the backstage door
Like a trip through the past, to that day in the rain
And that one guitar made his whole life change

Now he needs to keep rockin
He just cant stop
Gotta keep on rockin
That boy has got to stay on top

And be a juice box hero, got stars in his eyes
Hes a juice box hero, got stars in his eyes
Yeah, juice box hero, got stars in his eyes
With that one guitar hell come alive
Come alive tonight

Yeah, hes gotta keep rockin
He just cant stop
Gotta keep on rockin
That boy has got to stay on top

And be a juice box hero, got stars in his eyes
Hes a juice box hero, got stars in his eyes
Just one guitar, put stars in his eyes
Hes just a juice box hero, aah aah aah
Juice box hero, juice box hero, hes got stars in his eyes
Stars in his eyes

We purchased the DVD of the elementary school air band production for the year and this is one of the songs a group does. When we watched it the first time Iceman says "oh no, not Juice box hero, I hate that song". It's been his earworm ever since because he's always singing the chorus.

For my fellow 'The Office' loving peeps...

You have to check out this contest over at Office Tally. It is hysterical. I think my favorite is Beach Games by Simon . Which one is your favorite?

Monsters vs. Aliens

We took the crew to see this in Real 3D last night. It was a funny movie and everyone enjoyed it from the biggest kid to the smallest (6 to almost 14). It has been a long while since I've been to a 3D movie and they certainly have come a long way. I was sitting next to Turtle and loved listening to him giggle... you know those unexpected squeals of delight that you hear often as a toddler but not so much once they get school age. It made the movie for me listening to him and seeing the sheer joy on his face. Each of the kids had a favorite character. Ice and Turtle have been reenacting bits of the movie all morning and trying the crazy 3D glasses on (made of plastic not cardboard and resembling the glasses worn by the President in the movie). We kept the glasses in hopes that the DVD has some 3D capabilities. The crew said this is one they would definitely want to add to our collection.

Rig Beyatches

There is a term for a certain brand of woman around these parts. Their husbands work away from home in the patch, they drive expensive SUVs, dress like teenagers, have the requisite tramp stamp, nose ring, fake nails, chunky streaked hair, lululemon pants or have their ass crack hanging out and they walk around like they own the world. That term is rig b*tches. They stick together in their little group and act like they are the celebrities. Their kids are usually spoiled brats with no manners and the same sense of entitlement. Their conversations in the boot room are of trips, their newest ATV or other "stuff" related insanity. They scarcely acknowledge anyone not in their real housewives club and when they do you just know that they are talking about you after you've left.

I was in the scrapbook store yesterday. I'm not a crackbooker but I love the paper. I was on the hunt for some for a home decor project. Their were sister rig b*itches in the store with their brats running wild. There is a play/activity area in the shop but that wasn't sufficient for these charmers. One mother constantly reminded her little darling that he was lucky that Tara wasn't there or he'd be in big trouble. I know Tara is the sister of the owner of the shop and she has a photography business. I'd had the pleasure of meeting her on another trip to the store and she is a lovely girl. Sad that Tara obviously had to reign in the little princes on other occasions but mommie dearest just couldn't do it. It was hard not to hear the conversation as they were loud, as RB's are because they are the most important you know. She proceeds to tell the shopkeeper about the last time they were there and how she was worried because her vehicle had been acting strangely with the alarm going off, etc. She proceeds to explain that when she got home that night and went to throw her keys under her mat (guess that is where you keep them) to find her other set of keys there. Turns out she had been stepping on her second set of keys as she was driving and she was setting off the alarm and locking and unlocking the doors. It took everything in me to stifle the laughter. How stupid can one be? It was the perfect summation of how brilliant these woman are. I have yet to meet one that has any sort of education or has held a job of any value but they walk around like they are royalty and us common folk should worship them.

Meow! ;)

Gotta love Google

Thanks to Google I get a lot of traffic from places around the globe. When people search for a review on an IKEA mattress they end up on my site. LOL My Top 10 list for 2008 talks about our Sultan Flokenes mattress. I wonder if I've generated any new sales for IKEA. It would be cool if you could track that and then maybe they'd show me their appreciation. You know how I love me some IKEA.

Randomness

We had a lovely "honeymoon" in Cowtown. Spent some time in the malls, cruising old haunts and marvelling at all the changes in the area that was home for over a decade, a trip to Peter's Drive-In (we reminisced about all the pregnancy cravings for banana chocolate shakes that were satisfied by a trip here and I was stung by a bee!!!), dinner with friends and visiting many of the fire halls in the surrounding district (the Hero had to do some work afterall and I had to drool.... er..... marvel at how young the firefighters are getting). Freedom was contained by the kennel (she is a Houdini when it comes to escaping) and appeared to be no worse for her time away from us.

Upon arriving home we quickly unpacked, threw on some wash and headed out to meet up with friends for a movie- Get Smart. The funniest movie we have seen in a long while. We are huge Steve Carrell fans and enjoyed this one very much. We will be looking forward to it on DVD and are sure it will become the new go to comedy for laughs.

Today we went to the "Taste of ...." festival in the big city and enjoyed lots of yummy food from various restaurants. My cousin and her BF joined us and we took in another movie (we are wild and crazy without our crew at home) compliments of some passes they had. It was Step-Brothers with Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly. Those 2 together make for a lot of stupid humor and pushing the envelope. There were definitely some laughs but a few too many F-bombs. I left the movie with the question, like I do every Will Ferrell movie, "Why doesn't he do something about those teeth?" LOL

It sounds like we won't see our crew back til Tuesday as they want to celebrate Poppa's birthday with him tomorrow. Iceman's big day is on Thursday so this week will be a busy one. He's requested a fishing trip out to Great Uncle's pond complete with a campfire and S'mores.

These things only happen to my Hero

Yesterday the Hero was meeting with someone at Starbucks, next to Fourbucks is FatBurger. It was a bit of a stormy day and suddenly there was a whoosing sound that was loud enough to draw people from the wi-fi and their decaf grande half-soy, half-low fat, iced vanilla, double-shot, cappucino, with a dash of cinnamon, one splenda and extra caramel drinks to the window. Mr. grande quad shot americano with room (aka my Hero) gets up to see what the fuss is about. He is shocked to find that the one and a half story inflatable fatburger has landed on top of our van!!! He is livid because the assistant manager is first avoiding him til he practically barges into the back demanding to speak to someone in charge and then is clueless as to how to handle this situation and has to wait til she calls her manager. Hero is less than pleasant because all he can see is a van buried under a burger with the antenna sticking out at a less than upright manner. The assistant manager finally gathers her wits and deflates the burger and the Hero takes it off of the van to find an antenna broken in half and some minor scratches on the top and worst of all that his just cleaned van is now filthy from the dirty burger. When he calls to share his bad luck with me my first question is "Did you get a picture?" He is less than amused with me and of course he doesn't carry a bleeping camera around with him. I desperate for documentation call the Starbucks to see if any of the employees by chance photographed this spectacle. They think someone may have, I leave my email for the pics but have yet to receive any. By the time my Hero contacted the head office of FatBurger he was in better humor. They didn't quite know what to do with him when he said that one of their FatBurgers landed on his van. The president of the Canadian arm was out of town but is supposed to be calling him back. He was assured that they would take care of the damages. I'll let you know how that goes. I'm just disappointed I don't have a picture to share with y'all.

Have a great long weekend (sort of long for us Canucks with Canada Day falling on a Tuesday)! Beware of the flying inflatables.

Best Break-up Songs

We have a new radio station that recently hit the airwaves. They play some great music. Lots of oldies from my past. They did a "best break-up songs" afternoon. It was fun to listen to all the old heartbreaker songs. I even recall rewinding a few of them over and over again on the ghetto blaster when my heart had been broken. Good times! Here are a few of mine:

1. All Out of Love - Air Supply
2. The Flame - Cheap Trick
3. It Must Have Been Love - Roxette
4. These Eyes - Burton Cummings

Leave me a comment with your favorite break up songs.

Laughter

Laughter really is good medicine. I've laughed more recently than I have laughed in a long time. There is something to be said for the company of people who make you laugh and have the ability to laugh at themselves. Life is so much richer with laughter. The tough stuff isn't so hard when you have bursts of spontaneous silliness, big old belly laughs, pee your pants fits of giggles and snorts.

A wise prophet told me some time ago that I need to lighten up and embrace my Hero's warped sense of humor and ability to see the lighter side of life. It's taken me awhile to get to this place but I finally understand why this wise man thought that little pearl was so important so many years ago. I almost feel guilty for blowing off those words of wisdom... I've definitely robbed myself of some happiness by taking everything so seriously.

I guess this approaching 40 thing is really having me reflect on people and moments that have touched my life. I'm glad that I'm mature enough to take heed to some of the wisdom I've put on the back burner all too long.

Blog Envy

I recently stumbled onto Mrs Fussy Fussypants and her fabulous blogging friends. I've been reading many of the blogs by these remarkable women and suffering from blog envy. I'm awed by them. Not only are their blogs beautiful and fun to look at they are filled with faith, thought provoking bits, things that make you pee your pants laughing and of course every one of them seems to be more gorgeous than the next. With my blog envy has come a few moments of insecurity about how I must bore you all to tears with my sad attempts at blogging. However I've recovered from that and know that I will never be a professional blogger who is well known in the blogosphere. I will just be "me" boring you with my life, stories about the crew, gushes about the Hero, ramblings about life and faith. Hoping along the ride that I will inspire you, make you giggle or give you something to think about.

They're Poppin'

The Hero snuck down and caught this clip of Kodiak and Turtle jammin'. Make sure you are not drinking anything and you've just gone potty. ;)
