It's the time of year again where we see vidalia onions in our grocery stores. This is one of our favorite recipes for those sweet little gems:

Onion Salad

1/2 cup vinegar
1/2 cup water
3/4 cup white sugar
1/2 tsp. salt

Mix together and pour over vidalia onions, sliced into rings, in a large jar. Let sit in refrigerator for 3+ hours. Drain onions and then dress with the following mixture:

1/2 cup cream
1/2 cup salad dressing (we are mayo users)
2 tsp. celery seed

Enjoy. Yummy salad. Even the men love this one.

  1. Wow! I didn't realize how long it had been since I've visited you last....June?!!

I had forgotten about it until I read your post, but my mom used to slice cucumbers and onions and put them in with apple cider vinegar, sugar and water. Yummy! I'll have to try your recipe. I the lone lover of onions in my little family. I doubt I could even get Jeremy to try this, but maybe.... :)
